The Association has been a long-time supporter of the Make-A-Wish and has many wishes over the years to wish children in the Dubuque area who live with a life-threatening medical condition.
This year’s grant award benefited four area wish children, all of who wished to go to Walt Disney World® Resort.
Christopher, Age 11, and his family of six flew to Florida to visit Walt Disney World® Resort! While there they stayed at Give Kids the World Village – a special lodging place for wish families – and spent plenty of time at the Disney Theme Parks taking in all the rides, shows and attractions.
Dylan, Age 6, went to Walt Disney World® Resort in November. They got to experience the Disney Theme Park all decorated for Christmas. He and his family met Mickey Mouse, visited the Cars exhibit, spent time at Kennedy Space Center and even found a little time for the beach.
Katherine, Age 4, enjoyed the rides like the carousel, met Mickey and Minnie Mouse and even got some special play time with Ariel, her favorite princess. They played with Mr. Potato Head together. Her mom recalls, “The look on Kate’s face as her favorite princess walked into the Wish Lounge at Disney’s Magic Kingdom® was amazing…She talks about it almost every day.”
Kassidy, Age 11, left for Walt Disney World® Resort with her mom, dad and sister for a week of fun! They stayed at Give Kids the World Village, where they had plenty of amazing things to do – like eat ice cream any time they wanted! The family also spent time meeting characters, taking in entertainment and riding rides at the Florida Theme Park.
Make-A-Wish Iowa grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The Foundation has granted wishes to more than 2,600 of Iowa’s children living with a life-threatening medical condition.
