FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MAKE-A-WISH® IOWA TRANSITIONS SPRING FUNDRAISERS TO VIRTUAL EVENTS DUE TO COVID-19 SAFETY CONCERNS
Des Moines, Iowa – To ensure the safety of our wish families, community supporters, volunteers and employees Make-A-Wish® Iowa has made the difficult decision to transition the 2020 Clinton Benefit and the 2020 Des Moines Gala to virtual events.
Currently, there are over 55 wish kids in Iowa whose wishes have been postponed due to COVID-19 safety concerns. Make-A-Wish Iowa is more committed now than ever before to spread hope, strength and joy to every qualified child in Iowa by granting their one true wish.
Once it is safe for our wish families to travel, wishes will be granting at an unprecedented rate. The proceeds from both events will directly support the rescheduling efforts for the waiting wishes of wish children unable to travel. Last year, these events alone funded over 35 transformational wishes and the need this year is even greater.
The Clinton Benefit’s online auction bidding link will open on Sunday, May 31 and will close Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 7 p.m. The Make-A-Wish Iowa Facebook page will feature messages from Clinton area volunteers and supporters as well as stories from Clinton area wish families.
The Des Moines Gala will transition to a live stream interactive event on Saturday, June 13, 2020 starting at 6:30 p.m. The event will be hosted by Kelley Moody of KCCI, Make-A-Wish Iowa President and CEO, Jennifer Woodley and Board Member/ Gala Chair, JoDee Stensland. Viewers who join the live stream will enjoy wish stories, participate in a best (and worst) dressed contest, videos from sponsors and live auction. The silent auction link will be provided on the Facebook event once open and close on Saturday, June 14 at 2:00 PM. In addition, ticket holders will be offered dinner for pick-up from local restaurants.
More information updates and information for the Clinton Benefit will be provided on the Facebook event (https://www.facebook.com/events/2526745190948295/) and updates for the Des Moines Gala will be provide on the Des Moines Gala Facebook event (https://www.facebook.com/events/2717944141599552/).
